Needle
Many people become apprehensive with just the thought of needles. However, acupuncture needles should not be compared to needles used for injections and other such procedures. Acupuncture needles are very fine (hair-thin) and measure approximately half an inch to an inch long. Only the tip of the acupuncture needle is inserted into the skin. This procedure can often be performed with out causing any pain or discomfort to the patient. Other patients feel an initial “prick or pinch” as the needle is inserted. This feeling would be similar to that of a mosquito bite. Once the needle has been placed, the patient may feel a sense of warmth, relaxation, or becoming energized. All needles used are sterile and used only once before being disposed.

Needle with electrical stimulation
An electrode can be placed in connection with the acupuncture needle to further enhance the stimulation to the point of contact, the acupoint. This is an alternative method of acupuncture that is used in the clinic. A small electrical impulse may be comfortably felt through the acupuncture needle while successfully enhancing the stimulation to the point of contact.

Cold laser application (Non-needle application)
Even though acupuncture can often be performed with out causing any pain or discomfort, some patients find acupuncture needles intimidating. Fortunately there are alternative methods which will allow patients to experience the benefits of acupuncture without having to use any needles. While maintaining the same principles of acupuncture, cold laser is applied to the acupoint (the targeted area on the body) in the place of an acupuncture needle. Therefore, instead of the acupuncture needle applying the stimulation to the acupoint, it is replaced with the stimulation provided by the cold laser. Cold laser or low level laser should not be confused with lasers used in surgical procedures. Application of cold laser is far less intense and is painless.

Acupressure
Acupressure uses the same principle as acupuncture, only the technique is changed. Pressure is applied to the point of contact in the place of an acupuncture needle. This method is extremely effective in treating specific conditions. Some of these conditions include headaches, neck pain, back pain, muscle tension, and sinus problems. Acupressure is also very effective in helping to induce relaxation due to stress. One of the benefits of acupressure is that it may be performed safely by anyone with proper instruction. Patients of Sahara Chiropractic are shown where specific points of contact (acupoints) are located so that the patient may perform acupressure on their own while outside the clinic.

Electrical Meridian Imaging
| The human body consist of a flow of energy that courses over 12 meridians. These meridians are usually well balanced and in harmony. However, disruption of this normal healthy flow of energy may occur thus leading to pain and disease. The Electrical Meridian Imaging (EMI) or Ryodoraku evaluation is a way to measure these 12 meridians of the body. The doctor is able to detect, through use of the EMI, any imbalance within the 12 meridians. Treatment such as acupuncture, cold laser application, acupressure and other such procedures are able to return the body to a state of balance and health.
Just as Traditional Chinese Medicine relies on the ancient principles and proper diagnosis of 28 pulse characteristics, Electrical Meridian Imaging may be referred to as Contemporary Asian Medicine which is a technologically advanced electronic diagnosis and treatment. EMI was developed in 1952 by Dr. Yoshio Nakatani and has helped to revolutionize acupuncture to this day.

Treatment of migraines
Migraine headaches can be eliminated with the assistance of alternative clinical treatment. Sahara Chiropractic uses a combination of acupuncture, cold laser application, and acupressure to specific points located on the body. Relief from migraine headaches is usually achieved as early as the first treatment.

Addiction Control (Smoking/Alcohol/Weight Control)
| Acupuncture has gained a great deal of notoriety in recent years concerning its considerable success with addition control. It has been shown that acupuncture has a very positive effect in the area of both drug and alcohol addition. This procedure, in conjunction with professional counseling, has been proven extremely effective.
Smoking is one of the most noteworthy additions that benefits from acupuncture. The average patient will reduce their intake by at least one half within twenty four hours of the first treatment. Several additional treatments generally allow the patient to stop without experiencing the negative side effects of quitting. Acupuncture also has a favorable effect in weight control.
